Products description

A classic of free jazz: all-star band with a freely improvised soundtrack from 1964. In the jazz scene, the collective improvisations for "New York Eye And Ear Control" are regarded as a connection between Ornette Coleman's epochal recording "Free Jazz" and John Coltrane's no less famous recording "Ascension". The three pieces, including the two endless tracks "AY" (21: 24) and "ITT" (23: 22), were recorded on 17 July 1964 by Albert Ayler (tenor saxophone), Don Cherry (trumpet, cornet), John Tchicai (alto saxophone), Roswell Rudd (trombone), Gary Peacock (bass) and Sunny Murray (drums). They served as soundtrack for the short film "Walking Woman" by Canadian filmmaker Michael Snow.
